Lakey currently Is a program administrator and Supt. James Longstreth is recommending to the board that he taled 150 compared with 70 the previous year. Housing units at 106, were up from the 70 in 1968. Additions and alterations made were 182, reflecting an increase of 68 over the year before.

There were six new businesses, up four; 22 commercial business alterations, doubling those in 1968 and six permits were issued for churches and schools, compared with three in 1968. Mobile home permits last year in the county totaled 242, an increase from 178 in 1968. There were 32 commercial additions made last year, compared with 1 the previous year. Residential additions dropped slightly, from 867 in 1968 to 857 in 1969. In Punta Gorda, construction costs for permits issued jumped from $2,684,263 in 1968 to $6,023,704.28 this past year.
